Research

Tiny insect brains surpass any human-made control system when it comes to autonomously navigate through the natural environment. It is my goal to unravel the neuronal mechanisms and neuronal circuitry employed by insects that translate sensory information about the outside world into meaningful and goal-directed behaviour. My focus is on the neuronal machinery mediating visually driven behaviours. I am interested in spatial orientation, stereoscopic vision, figure-ground discrimination, decision-making, and attention-like processes.
