Tolga Çukur and Aykut Koç and colleagues have published “scHyperLink: Revealing Cell-Type-Specific Gene Regulation With Hypergraph Neural Networks” in IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics (January 2026).
Single-cell RNA sequencing measures gene activity cell by cell, making it possible to infer which genes regulate which. The paper introduces scHyperLink, which uses hypergraph neural networks to capture regulatory interactions involving several genes at once rather than only pairs. More accurate maps of gene regulation in specific cell types can help researchers understand how cells work and what goes wrong in disease.
