Timothea Toulopoulou and colleagues have published “Formal thought disorder and familial risk in first-episode psychosis: A study of cortical thickness and neuroimaging-transcriptomic association analysis” in Psychiatry Research Neuroimaging (January 2026).
The study examines formal thought disorder, the disorganized thinking and speech seen in psychosis, in people with first-episode psychosis. It relates the condition and family risk for psychosis to cortical thickness measured with MRI, and links the brain findings to patterns of gene expression. Such work helps clarify the biology behind early psychosis.
