New publication in Digital Signal Processing: Fractional Fourier transform based visibility graphs

Aykut Koç and colleagues have published “Fractional Fourier transform based visibility graphs” in Digital Signal Processing (June 2026).

Visibility graphs turn a time series, such as a biomedical or energy signal, into a network that is easy to interpret. This paper weights the links of these graphs using the fractional Fourier transform, a generalization of the familiar Fourier transform, and lets the method learn the best transform setting from the data. Tested on biomedical, industrial and energy benchmarks, the approach gives signal analysis a more flexible way to represent data.
