Abstract: My research in recent years has been at the forefront of practical, noninvasive, mobile multimodal functional neuroimaging (fNIRS and/or EEG). One of my aims is to create markers for predicting human performance. Such markers can provide objective measures of operators’ skill levels, characteristics of the tasks they are engaged in, or the tools they use. I will talk about our ongoing studies on neuro-ergonomics focusing on surgical education and training.
About the Speaker: Hasan Onur Keles is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Ankara University. He is also appointed Assistant Professor at the Department of Interdisciplinary Neuroscience of Ankara University and the Neuroscience and Neurotechnology Center of Excellence in Turkey (NÖROM). He received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Houston in 2015. After his Ph.D., he joined the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School as a postdoctoral researcher. He was a visiting researcher at Dankook University (S.Korea), Lubeck University (Germany), and Xi’an Jiaotong University (China). His lab goal is to establish expertise in the field of multimodal neuroimaging (fNIRS-related) and to be able to use novel, mobile imaging, and machine learning analysis techniques for data-driven studies in clinical populations, neuro-ergonomics, and human-computer interaction. He has published and contributed more than 50 scientific papers and conference proceedings.
