New publication in Behavior Research Methods: HR-ACT (Human–Robot Action) Database: Communicative and noncommunicative action videos featuring a human and a humanoid robot

Burcu Aysen Urgen and colleagues have published “HR-ACT (Human–Robot Action) Database: Communicative and noncommunicative action videos featuring a human and a humanoid robot” in Behavior Research Methods (January 2026).

The HR-ACT database contains 80 standardized videos of matched communicative and non-communicative actions, each performed by a human actor and by the humanoid robot Pepper. It comes with ratings from 438 participants on how the actions were recognized and how communicative they seemed. The material supports research on how people perceive and interact with robots.
