This article, based on recent research by Prof. Dr. Oktay Algın and his colleagues, identifies the connections between the auditory cortex and brain regions involved in cognitive and emotional processing. The study employs retrograde fluoro-gold (FG) tracers in mice and 3-tesla high-resolution diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in human adults. While the neural mechanisms underlying acoustic information processing along the auditory pathway are well documented, the connections supporting auditory-related cognitive and emotional processing have not yet been fully elucidated, especially in comparative studies between mice and humans.
